Privacy policy

1. Who is responsible

This site is operated by Next Turn. Contact for anything about your data: [email protected].

2. The short version

This site has no advertising and does not follow you around the web. We count visits with a simple counter that sets no cookies and tells us totals only, never who you are (section 3). Visitors need no account, and no cookies are set for them. If you subscribe to Premium, we keep only what it needs to work: your email address (to sign you in), one sign-in cookie, and the markets you star as favourites. Payment is handled by Stripe through its checkout Link, so your card details never reach us. Apart from that, the only personal data involved is what any website unavoidably handles to deliver its pages, and whatever you choose to put in an email to us.

3. Visiting the site

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. (Cloudflare Pages). To deliver pages and protect the site from abuse, Cloudflare processes technical data about each request: your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, and your browser's user-agent. We do not run our own server logs and do not use this data to identify you. Cloudflare processes it on our behalf and under its own privacy policy; data may be processed in the United States, covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in delivering a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

The visit counter. To know how many people read the site and how they found it, each page loads a small script from Cloudflare Web Analytics (static.cloudflareinsights.com). It reports the page you opened, the page that linked to it (for example one of our articles), the time it took to load, your browser and device type and your country. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and does not recognise you from one visit to the next; we see only totals, never individual visitors. Cloudflare processes this on our behalf, as above. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Fonts are served from this site itself, so loading a page sends no request to Google or any other third party; the only other address a page contacts is the visit counter, run by Cloudflare, which already hosts the site.

4. Your browser's storage

Your browser keeps a few small entries in its local storage: they remember that you have seen the first-visit notices, so they are not shown again, and the view choices you made on the pages (for example the chart's time range, the market you picked, filters and sort order). They contain no personal data, are never sent to us, and you can delete them at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser. No cookies are set, except the sign-in cookie for Premium members described in section 7.

5. Emailing us

Email sent to [email protected] is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to our mailbox. We use your address and message only to reply, and keep them no longer than needed for that. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you, or steps you ask for before a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).

6. The Premium notification list

If you enter your email address in the “Notify me” box, it is stored by our hosting provider (Cloudflare Workers KV) together with the date, and nothing else: no IP address, no browser details. We use it only to send you one email when Premium launches, then delete it. You can ask us to delete it sooner at [email protected]. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time.

7. Premium: subscription, sign-in and favourites

Payment. When you start a trial or subscribe, you do so on the checkout page of Link, run by Stripe. Stripe collects your email address, payment details and billing country, takes the payment and handles taxes, receipts and invoices; for this it acts as a controller under its own privacy policy. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach us. From Stripe we receive only your email address, a customer number, your plan, and the start, renewal and end dates of your subscription.

Signing in. You sign in with your email address and a 6-digit code we send to it. To check that you are a member, we ask Stripe whether your address has an active subscription: when you ask for a code, and again at most once a day while you are signed in. The code is stored, protected, for 10 minutes; a counter of codes asked for per address is kept for one hour to stop abuse. The email carrying the code is sent through an email delivery provider acting on our behalf.

The sign-in cookie. After you sign in, your browser keeps one cookie (“nt_s”) for 30 days, or until you sign out. It holds your email address, your customer number, your plan and its dates, and a random number for this device, signed so that it cannot be altered. It is strictly necessary to keep you signed in, is not used for anything else and is never shared. We keep the numbers of the last three sign-ins per address, so Premium can be open on at most three devices at a time.

Favourites. The markets you star are stored with your email address at our hosting provider (Cloudflare Workers KV), so they appear on every device you sign in on. They contain nothing but the names of those markets, and are deleted when you ask us.

Legal basis: the performance of your subscription contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), and for keeping payment records, our legal obligations. We keep your Premium data for as long as you are a member and delete it when you ask us after your subscription has ended; Stripe keeps payment records for as long as the law requires. Stripe and Cloudflare may process data in the United States, covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.

8. Your rights

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. For data Stripe holds about your payment, you can also contact Link directly at link.com. You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the country where you live or work.

9. Changes

If we change what we collect, this policy is updated before the change takes effect, and Premium members are told by email when it affects them. The version published here is the one in force.
